Jan. 25: National Journal Live Policy Summit As policymakers debate ideas to boost job creation and American manufacturing, advances in technological innovation, global competition and changing public attitudes are accelerating the demand for more environmentally sustainable automobiles. What is the state of manufacturing in the U.S. auto sector? What are the latest trends in green technology? And, how are they affecting the auto industry’s financial health and historic reliance on fossil fuels? This National Journal Policy Summit will feature a panel of members of Congress, industry leaders, and experts exploring job creation and innovation in the automotive industry today. Produced by National Journal and underwritten by The Washington Auto Show®, the multi-panel program will be moderated by the National Journal’s Energy and Environment Correspondent Amy Harder and Economics Correspondent Jim Tankersley, Jan. 26: Public Policy Day at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center The day offers a private preview of The Washington Auto Show to government, industry and media officials. The daylong schedule of events features a government keynote address by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and an industry keynote by Hyundai Motor America Executive Vice President of National Sales Dave Zuchowski. The evening boasts a celebratory Sneak Peek Reception and a special tribute to Roger Penske, who will receive the Keith Crain/Automotive News Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Keith Crain, Editor-in-Chief of Automotive News. GM President Mark Reuss will deliver the event keynote. |
